What does the evaluation consist of?
For Children: Neuropsychological and psychoeducational testing is conducted in order to diagnose and form a treatment plan for your child. Assessment sessions are spread out over 2-3 sessions in our child-friendly office and are often accompanied by a personalized observation of your child within their classroom setting. Assessment results will shed light on your child’s personal areas of cognitive strength and weakness. Evaluations may inform your child’s need for an Individualized Education Program, the need for related services in school that may include special accommodations, or a change in classroom setting and/or additional assistance in and outside of the classroom. You will receive a parent feedback session, where assessment findings will be explained in addition to what their impact is on your child’s schooling and home life. As children often want to know how they did during their assessment, Dr. Rodríguez may also provide a child feedback session when appropriate. A comprehensive written report will follow listing recommendations tailored to your child’s personal needs. Dr. Rodriguez is also available to participate in school meetings when needed.
For Adults: The assessment will take place over one to three sessions. Dr. Rodríguez will administer and interpret neuropsychological test battery results for diagnostic purposes and associated treatment planning. Each evaluation is followed by an individualized feedback session consisting of a thorough explanation of assessment results and how your performance may shed light on some of the difficulties you are having in your day-to-day life. You will also have the opportunity to have your questions answered. A comprehensive report detailing the results and tailored recommendations will follow.
